SOCIAL INTEGRATION
Today, the far north Highlands faces many of the same issues around its economy, environment and energy as its did post war. It is vital that large scale projects are integrated within communities - the mortar that holds the bricks together is...
‘leaning and culture, different and shared.'

Getting this embedded is the bond required for meaningful social integration and cultural legacy. Legacies are an often bandied-about word. They are always much more than the tangibles of structures. Learnt skills and wisdoms between local communities and those who arrive to implement large scale projects may even be more important than what’s built on the ground.

NEW NARRATIVES

Much of the narrative around change in the Highlands is often devoid of our human story. Understanding past responses to turbulent periods of change allows us to explore current day themes through collaborative and accessible Screen Arts training, which can help create new narratives, insights and perspectives.

FESTIVAL OF SCREEN ARTS
We support, contribute to and pioneer several festival screening events including:

In-Between Place Film Festival

Highland Climate Festival

Micro-Film Festival

SCREENSKILLS Collaborative festival of events
The Farr Stone Chroniclers proposed Screen Festival

Highland Screen Heritage proposed Screen Festival
THE EVOLUTION OF TRAINING
Poetic Film School’s unique Screen Arts training programme has revealed some remarkable outcomes. We may be better connected digitally today but the physical scapes around us still shape us.
'SCREENSKILLS Collaborative' builds a culture of documented story-telling based on past wisdoms & knowledge, that itself builds on centuries of legacy writing and poetics in the Highlands.

‘the evolution legacy of our Screen Arts training will lie in the visual record we leave behind’

It’s so important to record and document this period in time through creative social integration. The screen skills learnt today will directly shape people's lives tomorrow. The ability to capture this through engaging Screen Art stories, working with host partners, communities and those new to the Highlands, is at the heart of 'SCREENSKILLS Collaborative'.
